Something for Nothing?

I am an artist!
I create because I must!
When I was younger, I thought that it was the fame, fortune and the promise of easy sex that drove me to be thus
obsessed – but I know better than that now: I create because I must! There is some unexplained an unfathomable passion that moves me. In the same way that I need air, food, water or sex I often need to sit down and create something. It may be a little story for my grandchildren, a poem, a song, a movie outline, or just a new twist on an old joke. It may also be an invention, an innovation or a major enterprise like The Songweavers website, “The Bulgarian Quartet” set of novels, “The Woodstock Manifesto” musical kaleidoscope. Some of these, like the Bulgarian Quartet might keep me busy for the rest of my life, others seem to just flow out of my head in (seems like) a matter of minutes.

Once in a while, I pick up my guitar and go play for live audiences. More often than not, I sit in my (converted) bedroom/studio and record some sounds on my PC. Lately, I’ve been trying to put video to some of my tunes so that people can see who I am. In any case I take some of these rough efforts and post them on some site or another. The Songweavers site grew out of that and out of my desire to meet and collaborate with other musicians and/or musically inclined beings.

I place my works so that they are readable, viewable and listenable by one and all. It is something for nothing – or is it? Let me wise you up people – this is NOT something for nothing. Like all the rest of us humans, I am not an island, I am woven into our social fabric by invisible but nonetheless indestructible threads that keep pulling on me. So – when someone forgets his/her worries while listening to my music I can feel it – when someone cracks a smile while reading some of my words, I can feel it – when someone shares my pain over some particular human misfortune – I can feel it – when someone delights in my bawdy (and mostly imaginary) sexual escapades
I
can feel
it.
I feel it with my heart and I feel it with my mind.
Happiness and pleasure shared are amplified tenfold – shared pain less painful.
This may be quite simple to state
- but thus -
for you it is that I create!

If this is something that you can live with, please feel free to listen to my songs and to the songs of my friends who have agreed to share my vision. Feel free to download any downloadable material that you find on our site, while
respecting the wishes of its creator/s.
We all thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

State of the Site 3

I have added poem handling routines. Poems are being handled in a manner similar to Lyrics but, they do not need to become lyrics to any song – Good Poetry is music enough – the choice belongs to the author.
I am starting work on the music routines, a task that will take a few days, so I may not post another update before the end of the week.

Today I have installed an open source Chat application courtesy of blueimp.net. Chatting is available for EVERYONE in 35 languages without the need to log in.
The Songweavers Chat logo can be seen on all pages except the Forum.
People do tend to misbehave so we will have moderators that will have the power to kick out anyone who doesn’t toe the line.
Like everything else, these features are subject to change.

Here’s how we stand today:

All profile, lyrics, video, gigs and link functions are completed.

The FORUM is up and running.

The blog, and picture gallery are available to everyone and anyone can create their own.

The only pending issue is that members need to sign-up for the FORUM, blog and picture gallery separately. These are issues that will be addressed in a few months (Jan-Feb 2010).

The bazaar is only a sample.

Currently I am tying up some loose ends and looking at a few other interesting programs that I might want to add.

Next week I will put together the mp3 upload and download pages.

To get an idea of what could be check out my profile – click through some of the available pages. Make sure to visit my lyrics gallery and click on a title to get an idea of the editing capabilities. It is here:
